“We’re very grateful to S-One for their continued generosity and support. A donation like theirs goes a long way to feed our neighbors in need. During the 2021 holiday season, S-One challenged their team members to donate money towards the ”Turn empty plates into ThankFULL hearts” campaign sponsored by All-Faiths Food Bank.

“The S-One team is historically generous during the holiday season, but this year our team members nearly doubled the goal we challenged them with,” said Angie Gruss, Executive Vice President of Culture, who has been with the company for over 25 years.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by All-Faiths Food Bank as their Corporate Group of the Year. S-One has partnered with All-Faiths for the last decade, and we value the work they do for our community,” said Art Lambert, Co-Founder S-One Holdings Corporation.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $175 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer. S-One Supports Sticks for Soldiers Florida https://www.sone.com/s-one-supports-sticks-for-soldiers-florida/ Thu, 28 Mar 2019 14:58:40 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10936 SARASOTA, FLA. — United States Navy Fleet Marine Infantry Corpsman, Christopher W. Scott of Sarasota, Fla., was named the 2019 honoree of Sticks for Soldiers Florida, a non-profit lacrosse organization, originally founded in Connecticut, with a mission to provide financial support to U.S. service men and women in need.

Deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007, Chris was severely wounded by an explosive device, but continued his service by future deployments, including Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and the Humanitarian effort in Haiti.

To support Chris and Sticks for Soldiers Florida, four lacrosse teams from Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School (Sarasota), Riverview High School (Sarasota), Saint John Paul II Academy (Boca Raton) and Admiral Farragut Academy (St. Petersburg) held a weekend-long tournament. Each school not only competed on the field in lacrosse, but also off-the-field in fundraising.

With the funds going to such a great cause, the employees from S-One Holdings Corporation set a goal to raise $3,250, with the company promising to match up to $3,250. When the numbers were finalized, S-One’s employees raised $4,325, plus the company match, for a total final donation of $7,575.

Chris visited S-One’s Sarasota headquarters to receive the donation on March 26, 2019. Cardinal Mooney Assistant Coach Kyle Donovan, who brought the SFS program to Florida, discussed the importance of the program and what it means to the students. (The organization also promotes youth awareness of military service and 100% of the donations go to each honoree.)

With an introduction from Coach Donovan, Chris talked about the impact this program has not only on the honorees, but also on future generations. S-One is proud to present this donation to the Sticks for Soldiers organization. If you are interested in learning more about this cause, visit sticksforsoldiers.org or follow them on Twitter: @sticks4soldiers.

S-One Launches 2019 Culture Book with Print Innovations https://www.sone.com/s-one-launches-2019-culture-book-with-print-innovations/ Wed, 27 Feb 2019 17:43:42 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10924 SARASOTA, FLA. (FEB. 27, 2019) — To kick off its year-long 25th anniversary, S-One Holdings Corporation has published its 2019 Culture Book. The book is a celebration of the teams that make up S-One and its subsidiary companies, as well as its customers, partners and communities.

S-One culture book coversThe theme of the book is the S-One vision: Develop. Connect. Innovate., which are illustrated throughout the 48-page publication. Articles include team passions, strengths- and learning-based initiatives, community involvement projects and a look back at the past 25 years and the innovations S-One has brought to market and forever changed the print industry through its companies: LexJet, Brand Management Group, ABAQA, Utopia Digital Technologies and S-One Labels & Packaging.

“As you read this new edition, you’ll see example after example of just how our culture and core values impact our people and their families, our customers and our commitment to innovations,” says Art Lambert, S-One co-founder, President & CEO. “This book illustrates what makes S-One ‘different’ and how our passion for and commitment to our teammates, partners and customers has driven us for the past 25 Years to be the best!”

Pages of Print Innovations

As pioneers of innovative print technology, we tapped some industry pros to bring cutting-edge elements to this publication. On the cover, we use HP SmartStream Mosaic software to create individually unique covers that were digitally printed on HP Indigo. We also asked our printer, Bennett Graphics, to add Scodix digital embellishment on our “S” logo. The results are eye-catching, to say the least.

AR teaseWe also harnessed the power of augmented reality, creating a new smartphone app, S-OneAR, available on iOS and Android, to bring videos to life right on the pages of the book. See the first page of a print copy for download instructions so you can delve deeper into our stories.

You can access a digital version with videos of the S-One 2019 Culture Book or request a print copy HERE.

S-One Goes Around the World for All Faiths Food Bank https://www.sone.com/s-one-goes-around-the-world-for-all-faiths-food-bank/ Tue, 04 Dec 2018 17:43:22 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10898 SARASOTA, FLA. (Dec. 4, 2018) — The tradition started in 2011, with small LexJet teams working to come up with interesting themes for their “canstruction” projects, created from food items to be donated to All Faiths Food Bank: Best Vegetarian Contribution or Best Carbohydrate Donation. That first year, LexJet, now a division of S-One Holdings Corporation, donated almost 1,200 pounds of food to All Faiths.

Over the years, competitive S-One canstruction builds included printers, Wrigley Field, a Thanksgiving Day parade, and even working replicas of video games, skee ball and board games. Last year the theme was movies, and the “Wizard of Oz” and “Toy Story” canstructions generated nearly 2,200 pounds of food — for the first time, the 1 ton mark had been reached.

Let’s Take a Trip

This year, S-One’s global offices created an “Around the World” experience for All Faiths. Starting on the fifth floor of S-One’s corporate offices on Main Street, the “journey” starts over the Skyway Bridge, complete with a toll booth, cargo ship and a shark in the water. The trip continues through our stairwell, which represents the airport, along with a board of arrivals and departures.

Next, you see the S-One Barcelona team in their airplane seats aboard “S-One Airlines.” Finally, the trip ends in London where visitors rendezvous with the Meghan and Harry and the Queen at Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

When the trip was over, Art Lambert presented the team from All Faiths a check for $1,000 and more than 1.26 tons of food had been collected.

“Your gift of $1,000 along with 2,522 pounds of food will be used to provide fresh produce, meats and groceries to children, families and seniors in our community who, without your help, might otherwise go hungry,” wrote Denise Cotler, Chief Development officer at All Faiths Food Bank. “Thanks to individuals like you, in 2017, we served 66,000 people 8.5 million meals.”

S-One Lends Support to These Brave Athletes https://www.sone.com/s-one-lends-support-to-these-brave-athletes/ Mon, 13 Aug 2018 20:28:41 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10867 When people ask what we did this summer, S-One has some inspiring stories from events like Tri My Best Triathlon with Tender Touch Therapy near our Wisconsin office in Kenosha, and helping to plan the upcoming Gran Fondo Sarasota with the Team Tony Cancer Foundation in our headquarters town in Sarasota, Fla. Here are our summer stories:

TRI MY BEST TRIATHLON

In the early morning sunshine, a little boy in a long purple t-shirt and bright blue glasses takes the last few footsteps across a humble yet cheerful finish line in the Kenosha, Wisc. YMCA parking lot. He shuffles slightly with braces around his ankles and leaps into his mother’s arms in triumph.

IMG_0172This little guy has just finished the 4th annual Tri My Best Triathlon, an adaptive sporting event for children and young adults, ages 5 and up, with developmental disabilities. The event is sponsored by Tender Touch Therapy, a physical and occupational therapy center for children.

During the triathlon, athletes swim, bike and run on various courses that are adapted to their abilities. Each participant is paired with volunteers who either run beside the athlete for moral support or help them move along every aspect of the route, whether that’s a hand to hold, pushing a wheelchair or anything in between. Tri My Best started four years ago in Kenosha with 49 athlete participants. This year, 123 athletes took to the course.

“While all causes are worthwhile, this one is among the most amazing events I have ever seen,” says Ralph Giammarco. “My heart is full, and my eyes are pouring tears when I’m at this event. Few things are more inspiring than the compassion of the volunteers, the unconditional love of the families, and the courage and determination of the athletes. This truly represents the best of who people can be.”

In past years, S-One has donated printed banners. This year, we stepped it up with a $2,500 donation and were named the pool sponsor.

GRAN FONDO SARASOTA

Team Tony Pic v2The Team Tony Cancer Foundation was founded in 2010 by Tony McEachern, an avid cyclist, adventure racer and survivor of brain cancer. He felt compelled to use his experience to raise awareness for the critical need for programs that focus on providing support to those diagnosed with cancer.

The foundation pairs local cancer survivors and caregivers with cancer fighters to inspire and support them during the fight of their lives. Through the generous support and donations of the community, Team Tony offers their services free of charge to the patients.

The largest yearly fundraiser for Team Tony is a cycling challenge in early October. For the past several years, the “Cycle of Life” was a 200-mile ride over a two-day period. With a limited number of elite cyclists able to participate, Tony decided to change things up for 2018 and Gran Fondo Sarasota was born. This year, the event will be one day and there will be four distances to encourage more participation: 8 miles, 33 miles, 66 miles and 100 miles.

S-One is a participating sponsor of a rest stop that will have volunteers on hand to help cyclists with water, snacks, or rack their bikes as they come in for a breather. There is also a team of S-One employees and family who will be raising funds, with members participating at every level of the ride.

While the foundation is well known to many members of S-One, the grant nomination was initiated by Nicole Chapman, an Iron Man athlete and participant in many of the 200-mile Cycle of Life events, and Jennifer Corn, whose aunt who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2016 and has received assistance from the Team Tony program.

‘Wall Paper Has Gotten So Much Cooler’ https://www.sone.com/wall-paper-has-gotten-so-much-cooler/ Mon, 17 Jul 2017 15:36:43 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10664 As many of S-One’s brands are leading the way with new digitally printable décor materials like wallcoverings, fabric, canvas and more, we headed out to visit local interior retail showroom, Blu Home, where we met owner and interior designer, Chelsea Dunbar. Our goal: pick her brain about where wallcoverings have been and where they’re going.

Just 10 to 15 years ago, faux painting on walls and columns were all the rage. Today, it’s hard for designers to find skilled painters. “When the economy crashed, a lot of them left the market,” Dunbar says. Not to worry though, her aesthetic is decidedly more modern, and printed wallcoverings are a quick and less-expensive way to “make it look contemporary … and feel high-end,” she says. “Wall paper has gotten so much cooler — and it’s become a replacement for faux painting.”

bedMajor wallcovering trends that Dunbar noted are natural materials, like the grass-look, pictured above, at her store. Other popular finishes include any sort of texture, metallic and cork, as pictured below.

rugs and cork

Digitally printed wallcoverings make the design process easier, as well, she noted, especially when it comes to repeating patterns on a wall. “This isn’t your grandmother’s wall paper,” Dunbar says. “You can do so much more with it.”

We can’t wait to see how these creative minds incorporate printed products into their design, either with wallcoverings, canvas wraps or printed fabrics. Here are two more examples of new wallcovering styles we found at Blu Home:

S-One Rooftop Event Brings Area Interns Together https://www.sone.com/rooftop-event-brings-area-interns-together/ Mon, 26 Jun 2017 15:46:47 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10622 SARASOTA, FLA. — On the fourth floor rooftop patio of S-One Holdings Corporation’s headquarters in Downtown Sarasota, a group of young professionals gathered for the first intern mixer, a collaborative event put together by area businesses that recently joined forces to create Gulf Coast Millennials in Motion.

The group formed when Kerkering Barberio & Co recruiter Camille Norman approached the Gulf Coast CEO Forum for ideas to keep bright, young intern talent in the area, rather than losing them to full-time jobs in bigger cities. The team at the CEO Forum embraced the idea as an extension of BIG: Bright Ideas on the Gulf Coast.

“With BIG, our mission is to interact with students on Gulf Coast and connect them with companies here, and vice versa,” says Mary Darby Guidroz, administrative director of the CEO Forum. “With BIG, we thought this would fit nicely with our mission and Gulf Coast Millennials in Motion.”

The Millennials in Motion group includes several companies headquartered in the Sarasota-Manatee area, such as Boar’s Head, Bealls, Tervis, IMG, Florida State Theatre, Asolo, Kerkering Barberio & Co and S-One.

“The idea with the rooftop tailgate was not necessarily professional development, but a chance for the interns to get together for an event that was supported by their organization,” Guidroz says. “We were really pleased to have as many people as we had — it was nice to see exactly what we hoped for come to fruition.”

About 55 interns from those eight companies attended the event, which featured barbecue from Choo Choo’s Catering and entertainment by Bradenton-native singer-songwriter Matt Walden.

“It was really cool to meet so many young people and learn how they got to Sarasota,” says S-One intern Matt Block, an accounting major from the University of Texas. “It was different than how you would think of Sarasota — but young people definitely have a presence here. It changed my opinion of it — there was a mix of young people like myself, who are just starting college, and people just starting their careers and settling in here permanently.”

The next intern mixer is scheduled for July 12 at IMG for a lunch and learn, tour and a bit of athletic competition. Companies interested in Gulf Coast Millennials in Motion can email BIG@gulfcoastceoforum.com.

S-One to Host First of Three Summer Intern Mixers https://www.sone.com/s-one-to-host-first-of-three-summer-intern-mixers/ Mon, 19 Jun 2017 17:56:12 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10610 SARASOTA, FLA. — S-One Holdings Corporation, headquartered in Sarasota, Fla., has joined forces with seven local companies interested in bringing together Sarasota/Bradenton interns for social networking events.

“In efforts to highlight our region as a hot spot for young, educated talent, we’re hosting the first of three summer intern mixers,” says Angie Gruss-Lane, S-One’s Chief Cultural Officer. “Our companies all share a similar issue in losing bright, young talent to more exciting cities, so we want to show them what our region has to offer.”

The event takes place Wednesday, June 21, 3:30 to 6 p.m. on S-One’s fourth floor rooftop patio. Interns from companies such as Boar’s Head, Bealls, Tervis, IMG, FST, Asolo, Kerkering Barberio & Co and S-One have been invited to learn about these companies and meet other local interns.

“We are excited to bring these interns together, allowing them to network and see different companies in our area with real career opportunities,” Gruss-Lane says.
