S-One Celebrates 25 Years https://www.sone.com/s-one-celebrates-25-years/ Mon, 13 May 2019 14:27:52 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10965 On May 2, employees at S-One Holdings Corporation’s Sarasota headquarters celebrated the company’s 25 years with a rooftop soirée. Employees marked the occasion by creating a walk of fame featuring each of their names in stars on the fourth floor rooftop patio of Downtown Sarasota’s Ellis Building on Main Street.

IMG_1839The event featured S-One founders Ron Simkins and Art Lambert, pictured above, who started their first company, LexJet, in Sarasota in 1994. In 2012, the duo officially combined several other companies, Utopia Digital Technologies, Brand Management Group and ABAQA to form S-One Holdings Corporation. Last year, the S-One team launched its newest company, S-One Labels & Packaging.

S-One kicked off its 25th anniversary year by publishing its 2019 Culture Book, which features customer and employee stories, a look back at how S-One companies have impacted the printing industry, and how S-One has touched its local communities.

_D728934xIn Sarasota, S-One ramped up its fundraising efforts to benefit Sticks for Soldiers and Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The company and its employees have raised $7,500 so far in 2019, with more special events planned throughout the year.

The company was thrilled this year to win two Stevie Awards from the American Business Awards. The winners were determined by the average scores of more than 200 professionals worldwide in the two-month judging process. S-One was honored in two categories:

  • Company Book: Silver Stevie Award for the S-One 2019 Culture Book
  • Innovation of the Year: Bronze Stevie Award for the launch of HP Recycled Satin Canvas

“To think we’ve made it to 25 years is just astounding,” says Lambert. “It’s been quite a ride, and we couldn’t have done it without all of our dedicated employees who show up every day and give it their all. They’ve not only created a excellent company, but an extended family, as well. Ron and I couldn’t be more proud.”

S-One Launches 2019 Culture Book with Print Innovations https://www.sone.com/s-one-launches-2019-culture-book-with-print-innovations/ Wed, 27 Feb 2019 17:43:42 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10924 SARASOTA, FLA. (FEB. 27, 2019) — To kick off its year-long 25th anniversary, S-One Holdings Corporation has published its 2019 Culture Book. The book is a celebration of the teams that make up S-One and its subsidiary companies, as well as its customers, partners and communities.

S-One culture book coversThe theme of the book is the S-One vision: Develop. Connect. Innovate., which are illustrated throughout the 48-page publication. Articles include team passions, strengths- and learning-based initiatives, community involvement projects and a look back at the past 25 years and the innovations S-One has brought to market and forever changed the print industry through its companies: LexJet, Brand Management Group, ABAQA, Utopia Digital Technologies and S-One Labels & Packaging.

“As you read this new edition, you’ll see example after example of just how our culture and core values impact our people and their families, our customers and our commitment to innovations,” says Art Lambert, S-One co-founder, President & CEO. “This book illustrates what makes S-One ‘different’ and how our passion for and commitment to our teammates, partners and customers has driven us for the past 25 Years to be the best!”

Pages of Print Innovations

As pioneers of innovative print technology, we tapped some industry pros to bring cutting-edge elements to this publication. On the cover, we use HP SmartStream Mosaic software to create individually unique covers that were digitally printed on HP Indigo. We also asked our printer, Bennett Graphics, to add Scodix digital embellishment on our “S” logo. The results are eye-catching, to say the least.

AR teaseWe also harnessed the power of augmented reality, creating a new smartphone app, S-OneAR, available on iOS and Android, to bring videos to life right on the pages of the book. See the first page of a print copy for download instructions so you can delve deeper into our stories.

S-One Revamps “S1U” Employee Education Program https://www.sone.com/s-one-revamps-s1u-employee-education-program/ Tue, 22 May 2018 19:44:47 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10834 With a commitment to innovation, employee development and fun, S-One Holdings Corporation has relaunched its continuing education program known as S1U.

“We’ve revamped the program to utilize the latest technology to give our team members access to more than 3,000 professionally taught courses that can be completed when and where they want,” says Michael Clementi, who is heading up the program. “They can take courses on their computers, tablets or smartphones, and we’re adding live (and live-streamed) classroom learning opportunities, as well.”

S-One uses Udemy online courses, which cover a wide variety of topics from stress management and yoga to marketing, leadership and software training. The first classroom lesson was held earlier this month, lead by professional photographer, Pete Wright, who taught the elements of photography.

“I’ve been interested in photography since I was young, but I have no experience other than a point and click camera or cell phone,” says class member Jen Corn. “During the class, I realized that it’s not always about the camera, but about the impact of the image being captured, the story being told and how it’s presented to the world. I can’t wait to practice some of the things I’ve learned.”

DEALTo help employees find time for learning, S-One began a monthly DEAL (Drop Everything And Learn) hour. In teams, employees are assigned one hour a month to dedicate to their continued education. Since the weather has been cooperating, desks were set up on the fourth floor outdoor patio for the DEAL hour.

“During our first DEAL hour, we collectively logged 2,900 minutes of learning,” says Clementi. “During our second DEAL hour, we put in 3,788 minutes!”

By providing the platform that affords equal learning opportunities for every team member, S-One offers evergreen courses that can be focused on individual interests to maximize the amount of professional and personal growth they can achieve.

“It’s awesome having permission to learn in the middle of a workday,” says S-One team member Jason Nelson. “Right now I’m taking a course on iOS development, and at the end of the 49.5 hour course I’ll be able to develop complex iOS apps!”

LexJet Sponsors #brandUP Project to Support Local Groups and Businesses (Video) https://www.sone.com/lexjet-sponsors-brandup-project-to-support-local-groups-and-businesses/ Thu, 19 Nov 2015 20:46:15 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10171

Earlier this year, LexJet summer interns set out to find non-profit organizations and small businesses that might benefit from wide-format graphics. They met with seven local groups who were happy to receive graphics support and the printing of a variety of items, such as banners, door graphics, posters, canvas wraps and even T-shirts, to help boost and promote their brands.

“We’re extremely grateful,” says Lynn Rasys, director of communications and development at Cat Depot, an organization devoted to rescuing homeless cats, offering low-cost veterinary services, finding new homes and providing community education.

LexJet provided Cat Depot door and floor graphics, window clings, banners and posters promoting the group’s services and upcoming events. “Everything that was created was amazing and high quality. We’re honored that we were selected as one of the organizations.”

Other groups that have been featured on the LexJet blog thus far include POP Yachts, an online boat broker in Sarasota County, which received an elevator door graphic, canvas wraps and a portable banner stand. Bit of Hope Ranch, which rescues horses and offers trail rides in Englewood, Fla., received new hanging and standing banners.Matt Walden, an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Bradenton, Fla., was set with posters promoting his first original single, banners and custom T-shirts printed on the new Epson SureColor F2000 direct-to-garment printer.

“We had some old banners from the early 2000s that were just white with green letters, so I thought a nice, new little banner would be cool,” says Suzanne Park, who heads up Bit of Hope Ranch. “But I had no idea the length they were going to go through to make them so personal. They’re amazing.”

Additional projects will soon be featured at Coffee Carrousel, a diner on Main Street, Sarasota; Williams Parker, Attorneys at Law; and Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.

“This #brandUP project was a great opportunity for our interns to take a real-life marketing campaign and run it as their own business,” says Terry Lynn Belzer, marketing lead at LexJet. “Like any advertising agency, they had to uncover the needs of their ‘clients’ and find and deliver creative solutions. Plus, it fits with the LexJet character of being involved in the community at a grass-roots level. And we all had fun doing it.”

Stay tuned to the LexJet blog at blog.lexjet.com to see the next round of #brandUP projects.

S-One’s Food Drive Delivers a Harvest of Good Will https://www.sone.com/s-ones-food-drive-delivers-a-harvest-of-good-will/ Tue, 25 Nov 2014 21:45:39 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=9778 In its second annual holiday food drive, S-One Holdings Corp. employees teamed up to donate more than 2,400 pounds of food and compete in a good-natured “can-struction”-style building tournament on Nov. 17, 2014 to benefit All Faiths Food Bank.

Throughout the fourth and fifth floors of the Ellis Building in downtown Sarasota, which houses S-One’s headquarters, the teams built a variety of structures including a sushi platter, a pumpkin pie, a mouse in a maze, an interactive advent calendar, a basketball hoop, a Christmas tree and to finish it off, a Thanksgiving Day parade featuring Tom the Turkey and Santa Claus himself. “Our team’s creativity never ceases to amaze me,” said Art Lambert, co-founder of S-One.

Laura Coyle, director of marketing for All Faiths, was on hand to help the S-One leadership team judge the competition. “The food came to just over 2,400 pounds — enough food for 2,000 meals,” Coyle said. “Thank you again for the generosity, and I had so much fun!”

S-One is proud to have helped All Faiths, which feeds 41,000 individuals annually, and we wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

S-One Named One of the Best Companies to Work for in Florida https://www.sone.com/s-one-named-one-of-the-best-companies-to-work-for-in-florida/ Mon, 25 Aug 2014 19:19:14 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=9530 Parent company of LexJet Corporation ranked 20th among midsized businesses.

AUGUST 15, 2014, SARASOTA, FLA. — “We always have fun every day and motivate each other in a positive way” … “This is the only organization I’ve worked for that I can’t wait to get back to work the next day” …

“One word: ‘Family.'”

These are a few of the comments employees at S-One Holdings Corporation wrote in the satisfaction survey that was part of Florida Trend magazine’s scoring for its 2014 list of the Best Companies To Work For In Florida. This survey, in addition to other metrics, helped to rank S-One in the top 20 midsized companies in the state, according to the magazine.

Sarasota-headquartered S-One oversees a number of subsidiary companies including LexJet Corporation, which was named among Florida Trend‘s Best Companies’ rankings of midsized companies for the previous five years in a row. This year, LexJet® is included with the S-One family of companies in the ranking.

“In one year, we’ve brought all the companies together and integrated all of the S-One company cultures into one,” says Art Lambert, who founded LexJet® with Ron Simkins in 1994. “During this process, we’ve multiplied the number of our teammates and went global in six months — you’d expect there to be some hiccups. But according to this employee satisfaction survey, there haven’t been. And now, instead of just LexJet® getting recognition, it’s all of S-One.”

Exceptional customer service and unrivaled employee satisfaction and empowerment were key themes that S-One staff members noted in the survey. “We got the ultimate compliment from our coworkers,” Lambert says. “100 percent of them said they would recommend working here to a friend. It doesn’t get any better than that.”

The Best Companies To Work For In Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and is endorsed by the HR Florida State Council. To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction.

“The top companies seek high-energy employees who vigorously accept the organization’s core values,” says Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty. “The companies that attract these great employees are the same companies that show growth even in a challenging business environment. It’s our pleasure to recognize them and encourage others to build Florida’s competitive advantage.”
