S-One Announces Commitment to Donate $1 per Order for Rock for a Cause https://www.sone.com/s-one-announces-commitment-to-donate-1-per-order-for-rock-for-a-cause/ Wed, 18 May 2016 20:42:50 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10242 SARASOTA, FL — S-One Holdings Corporation, the founding sponsor of Rock for a Cause, announced that it will donate $1 per order each day for the two months leading up to this year’s battle-of-the-bands community event, which will take place on Nov. 12, 2016 on Main Street in Sarasota. The money raised from the S-One donation and sponsorship from other local businesses will be used to send students of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation to the Berklee College of Music Summer Programs.

“Our goal is to send five students to the Berklee Summer Programs,” says Angie Lane, a member of S-One’s Leadership Team. “By donating $1 per order for two months, S-One is ensuring that one of those five students will definitely go. We’re counting on our generous sponsor partners to help us reach our goal.”

S-One and Del Couch made this announcement at the Rock for a Cause Kick-off Party on May 12 on the fourth floor rooftop patio of the S-One headquarters, located on Main Street. During the party, students and alumni from the Foundation performed for attendees. They included 2015 Rock for a Cause winner Paige Merriman, iTunes chart-topping Matt Walden and 2014 American Idol contestant Sam Woolf, all of whom have been mentored by Del Couch and the Foundation.

“Partnering with S-One offers us an incredible opportunity to provide more for the students,” says Del Couch. “With the Berklee Summer Program, kids can stay from three days to five weeks at the most prestigious music college in the world. In fact, Sam Woof attended the five-week course, which led to him appearing on American Idol. It can truly start somebody’s career.”

S-One Announces New Rock for a Cause Partnership with Del Couch Music Education Foundation https://www.sone.com/s-one-announces-new-rock-for-a-cause-partnership-with-del-couch-music-education-foundation/ Tue, 22 Mar 2016 16:15:30 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10210 SARASOTA, FL – S-One Holdings Corporation is pleased to announce its new Rock for a Cause partner: The Del Couch Music Education Foundation. S-One and the Foundation will co-present the 2016 Rock for a Cause battle-of-the-bands event to be held this Fall.

S-One has spearheaded Rock for a Cause for the past two years, celebrating the community and its local musicians. In year one, rockers Seven Years Past took the title and donated funds to Riverview High School. Last year, 15-year-old sensation Paige Merriman won the title, with donations going to Lakewood Ranch High School and the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, where she is mentored by Del, has recorded a CD and performed with the Foundation’s other talented musicians, such as 2014 American Idol contestant Sam Woolf, and iTunes chart-topping singer-songwriter Matt Walden. Each year, the winning schools also received additional grant money from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

“Being a part of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation and having the honor of winning such a respectable title has really put things into perspective for me,” Paige says. “Rock for a Cause showed me that I am, in fact, capable of much more than I thought. I can’t thank everyone enough who’s supported me and continues to do so.”

During the Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Heart of the Song, on March 19, 2016, S-One announced the new partnership. Funds raised through the 2016 Rock for a Cause event will be allocated to sending Foundation students to the Berklee College of Music Summer Internship program. The Heart of the Song featured performances by Sam Woolf, Matt Walden, Paige Merriman and One Night Rodeo.

“I’m excited to partner with a great community leader like S-One,” says Del Couch, founder of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation. “For these kids, spending a summer at Berklee’s program gives them exposure to the best music instructors at the leading music university in the world.”

Stay tuned to Rock for a Cause’s web page and Facebook page for updates on sponsorship opportunities, band submissions and event details.

“Our No. 1 goal with Rock for a Cause is to give back to the community in a fun and meaningful way, specifically ensuring that kids have access to music and arts programs – and Del’s Foundation is a great avenue to do just that,” says S-One’s Shauna Malgieri, head of the Rock for a Cause Executive Committee. “This event captures S-One’s family spirit while bringing together local musicians with some good, old-fashioned competition. We’re definitely ready to rock this year! Are you?”

Rock for a Cause 2015 Is Looking for Musicians https://www.sone.com/rock-for-a-cause-is-looking-for-musicians/ Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:44:58 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10133 SARASOTA, FLA. — Last year’s inaugural Rock for a Cause was a tremendous success! This “battle-of-the-bands” style event showcased six bands who were whittled down through online voting. Last year’s winning band, Seven Years Past, was awarded $1,500 cash and chose Riverview High School’s music program to receive a $3,500 donation. The event attracted more than 2,000 attendees.

Now it’s time start thinking about this year’s submissions. Bands or solo musicians in Sarasota or surrounding counties can go to srqrocks.org/band-submissions and get instructions on how to provide two songs in audio or video format and fill out the bio form by Oct. 9, 2015. Rock for a Cause staff will contact each entrant to finish the application process. Public voting will run Oct. 12-23.

Rock for a Cause will be held on Nov. 21, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Payne Park in Sarasota. The event will include vendors, food, kids activities, giveaways, live music and more. Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are also available. Please visit the Event Sponsorship page.

Rock for a Cause Was a Rockin’ Success https://www.sone.com/rock-for-a-cause-a-rockin-success/ Fri, 17 Oct 2014 19:51:36 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=9741 S-One was thrilled to partner with the Sarasota Young Professionals Group to bring Rock for a Cause to Downtown Sarasota on Oct. 11, 2014. The inaugural event was in “battle-of-the-bands” style, where musical groups applied online (at SRQRocks.com) and were whittled down to a handful of bands that performed on Saturday. The winning band, Seven Years Past, chose Riverview High School’s music program to receive a $3,500 donation. Seven Years Past was also awarded $1,500.

“Truly, the best thing about SRQRocks is that when we look back at this event in the future, the best possible memory one could have will be recalled, ‘Hey! It like a family event,'” Seven Years Past said on its Facebook page.

The event, which included food, vendors and a kids’ area along with the live music, raised more than $8,000 and drew an estimated crowd of 2,000 in attendance throughout the duration of the event, which ran from 3 to 10 p.m.

“It was great to see the talented musicians from Sarasota and to watch the crowd, adults and kids, enjoying the fun event!” says Art Lambert, president and CEO of S-One. “I even had my face painted!  The organizing teams from S-One’s Culture Club and Sarasota’s Young Professionals Group should get a rousing applause and standing ovation for such a wonderful charitable cause!  Let’s do it again!”

The local bands that performed during the event included Seven Years Past, In Treble, Hymn For Her, First World Problems and The Savannah Brady Band. S-One’s in-house band, The Paperboys, kicked off the performances with some classic rock-n-roll tunes.

“What started as an idea from Art Lambert turned into an event that far exceeded our expectations,” says Shauna Malgieri, who joined the Rock for a Cause Executive Committee with fellow S-One teammates, Angie Lane and Karim Manning. “We expected it to be a fairly small event, but we ended up with a total of 29 band submissions, and the website had more than 10,000 unique views from all over the country.”

Below are some scenes throughout the day. Please visit our Gallery on our Who We Are page.
