S-One Celebrates 25 Years https://www.sone.com/s-one-celebrates-25-years/ Mon, 13 May 2019 14:27:52 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10965 On May 2, employees at S-One Holdings Corporation’s Sarasota headquarters celebrated the company’s 25 years with a rooftop soirée. Employees marked the occasion by creating a walk of fame featuring each of their names in stars on the fourth floor rooftop patio of Downtown Sarasota’s Ellis Building on Main Street.

IMG_1839The event featured S-One founders Ron Simkins and Art Lambert, pictured above, who started their first company, LexJet, in Sarasota in 1994. In 2012, the duo officially combined several other companies, Utopia Digital Technologies, Brand Management Group and ABAQA to form S-One Holdings Corporation. Last year, the S-One team launched its newest company, S-One Labels & Packaging.

S-One kicked off its 25th anniversary year by publishing its 2019 Culture Book, which features customer and employee stories, a look back at how S-One companies have impacted the printing industry, and how S-One has touched its local communities.

_D728934xIn Sarasota, S-One ramped up its fundraising efforts to benefit Sticks for Soldiers and Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The company and its employees have raised $7,500 so far in 2019, with more special events planned throughout the year.

The company was thrilled this year to win two Stevie Awards from the American Business Awards. The winners were determined by the average scores of more than 200 professionals worldwide in the two-month judging process. S-One was honored in two categories:

  • Company Book: Silver Stevie Award for the S-One 2019 Culture Book
  • Innovation of the Year: Bronze Stevie Award for the launch of HP Recycled Satin Canvas

“To think we’ve made it to 25 years is just astounding,” says Lambert. “It’s been quite a ride, and we couldn’t have done it without all of our dedicated employees who show up every day and give it their all. They’ve not only created a excellent company, but an extended family, as well. Ron and I couldn’t be more proud.”

S-One Goes Around the World for All Faiths Food Bank https://www.sone.com/s-one-goes-around-the-world-for-all-faiths-food-bank/ Tue, 04 Dec 2018 17:43:22 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10898 SARASOTA, FLA. (Dec. 4, 2018) — The tradition started in 2011, with small LexJet teams working to come up with interesting themes for their “canstruction” projects, created from food items to be donated to All Faiths Food Bank: Best Vegetarian Contribution or Best Carbohydrate Donation. That first year, LexJet, now a division of S-One Holdings Corporation, donated almost 1,200 pounds of food to All Faiths.

Over the years, competitive S-One canstruction builds included printers, Wrigley Field, a Thanksgiving Day parade, and even working replicas of video games, skee ball and board games. Last year the theme was movies, and the “Wizard of Oz” and “Toy Story” canstructions generated nearly 2,200 pounds of food — for the first time, the 1 ton mark had been reached.

Let’s Take a Trip

This year, S-One’s global offices created an “Around the World” experience for All Faiths. Starting on the fifth floor of S-One’s corporate offices on Main Street, the “journey” starts over the Skyway Bridge, complete with a toll booth, cargo ship and a shark in the water. The trip continues through our stairwell, which represents the airport, along with a board of arrivals and departures.

Next, you see the S-One Barcelona team in their airplane seats aboard “S-One Airlines.” Finally, the trip ends in London where visitors rendezvous with the Meghan and Harry and the Queen at Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

When the trip was over, Art Lambert presented the team from All Faiths a check for $1,000 and more than 1.26 tons of food had been collected.

“Your gift of $1,000 along with 2,522 pounds of food will be used to provide fresh produce, meats and groceries to children, families and seniors in our community who, without your help, might otherwise go hungry,” wrote Denise Cotler, Chief Development officer at All Faiths Food Bank. “Thanks to individuals like you, in 2017, we served 66,000 people 8.5 million meals.”

S-One Revamps “S1U” Employee Education Program https://www.sone.com/s-one-revamps-s1u-employee-education-program/ Tue, 22 May 2018 19:44:47 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10834 With a commitment to innovation, employee development and fun, S-One Holdings Corporation has relaunched its continuing education program known as S1U.

“We’ve revamped the program to utilize the latest technology to give our team members access to more than 3,000 professionally taught courses that can be completed when and where they want,” says Michael Clementi, who is heading up the program. “They can take courses on their computers, tablets or smartphones, and we’re adding live (and live-streamed) classroom learning opportunities, as well.”

S-One uses Udemy online courses, which cover a wide variety of topics from stress management and yoga to marketing, leadership and software training. The first classroom lesson was held earlier this month, lead by professional photographer, Pete Wright, who taught the elements of photography.

“I’ve been interested in photography since I was young, but I have no experience other than a point and click camera or cell phone,” says class member Jen Corn. “During the class, I realized that it’s not always about the camera, but about the impact of the image being captured, the story being told and how it’s presented to the world. I can’t wait to practice some of the things I’ve learned.”

DEALTo help employees find time for learning, S-One began a monthly DEAL (Drop Everything And Learn) hour. In teams, employees are assigned one hour a month to dedicate to their continued education. Since the weather has been cooperating, desks were set up on the fourth floor outdoor patio for the DEAL hour.

“During our first DEAL hour, we collectively logged 2,900 minutes of learning,” says Clementi. “During our second DEAL hour, we put in 3,788 minutes!”

By providing the platform that affords equal learning opportunities for every team member, S-One offers evergreen courses that can be focused on individual interests to maximize the amount of professional and personal growth they can achieve.

“It’s awesome having permission to learn in the middle of a workday,” says S-One team member Jason Nelson. “Right now I’m taking a course on iOS development, and at the end of the 49.5 hour course I’ll be able to develop complex iOS apps!”

S-One’s Food Drive Delivers a Harvest of Good Will https://www.sone.com/s-ones-food-drive-delivers-a-harvest-of-good-will/ Tue, 25 Nov 2014 21:45:39 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=9778 In its second annual holiday food drive, S-One Holdings Corp. employees teamed up to donate more than 2,400 pounds of food and compete in a good-natured “can-struction”-style building tournament on Nov. 17, 2014 to benefit All Faiths Food Bank.

Throughout the fourth and fifth floors of the Ellis Building in downtown Sarasota, which houses S-One’s headquarters, the teams built a variety of structures including a sushi platter, a pumpkin pie, a mouse in a maze, an interactive advent calendar, a basketball hoop, a Christmas tree and to finish it off, a Thanksgiving Day parade featuring Tom the Turkey and Santa Claus himself. “Our team’s creativity never ceases to amaze me,” said Art Lambert, co-founder of S-One.

Laura Coyle, director of marketing for All Faiths, was on hand to help the S-One leadership team judge the competition. “The food came to just over 2,400 pounds — enough food for 2,000 meals,” Coyle said. “Thank you again for the generosity, and I had so much fun!”

S-One is proud to have helped All Faiths, which feeds 41,000 individuals annually, and we wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
