S-One Named All-Faiths Food Bank’s 2021 Corporate Group of the Year https://www.sone.com/s-one-2021-corporate-group-of-the-year/ Thu, 24 Feb 2022 13:36:02 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=12398 Sarasota, Fla. – After a record year of corporate giving to All-Faiths Food Bank’s holiday food drive, Sarasota-based S-One Holdings Corporation was honored as the “All-Faiths Food Bank’s 2021 Corporate Group of the Year.”

“We’re very grateful to S-One for their continued generosity and support. A donation like theirs goes a long way to feed our neighbors in need. Their donation to the campaign helped All-Faiths Food Bank provide 3.2 million holiday meals to local children, families, seniors, and veterans in need. We couldn’t do it without their support,” said Rachel Bradley, Director of Philanthropy at All-Faiths Food Bank.

During the 2021 holiday season, S-One challenged their team members to donate money towards the ”Turn empty plates into ThankFULL hearts” campaign sponsored by All-Faiths Food Bank.

“The S-One team is historically generous during the holiday season, but this year our team members nearly doubled the goal we challenged them with,” said Angie Gruss, Executive Vice President of Culture, who has been with the company for over 25 years.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by All-Faiths Food Bank as their Corporate Group of the Year. S-One has partnered with All-Faiths for the last decade, and we value the work they do for our community,” said Art Lambert, Co-Founder S-One Holdings Corporation.

In addition to the annual holiday campaign, S-One partners with All-Faiths Food Bank throughout the year with food distribution at mobile pantries, mobile farmers markets, and warehouse packing.

Added Lambert, “We have a great team at S-One who know how to give back to the community that has given us so much. We’re proud of our partnership with All-Faiths Food Bank and look forward to many years to come.”

Our First GlobalShop @ RetailX Was a Buzz-worthy Success https://www.sone.com/our-first-globalshop-retailx-was-a-buzz-worthy-success/ Wed, 03 Jul 2019 21:12:24 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=11023 Our team here at S-One was excited to make our debut at GlobalShop @ RetailX in Chicago last month, showcasing media options we’ve hand-selected for retail environments. The event focused on all aspects of retail, including design, ecommerce, technology and more.

Fabrics were a huge trend all throughout the GlobalShop, and we were right on trend with some tried-and-true favorites as well as brand-new to the market options.“Fabric was everywhere, and it’s always going to continue to trend,” says sales rep Matt Radauscher. “The guys who don’t have dye-sub yet were happy to hear they had options to print fabrics on latex.”

Our team showcased HP Durable Backlit Fabric, a lightweight option suitable for SEG frames that’s latex-compatible. We also had dye-sub users covered with Fisher Textiles 4608 Power Stretch and 9048 EZ Stretch, which are, for the first time, available in wide-format sizes exclusively through our company, LexJet.

squid office 2We also brought the brand-new adhesive fabric, Squid, which generated a ton of buzz. The fabric’s fibers are finished on one side with a special adhesive that is designed for windows. Squid can be printed or used alone to create privacy, block out the sun’s rays and/or display brand messaging. It’s an elegant solution for high-end retail and corporate environments. Stay tuned for more info to come soon!

We also showcased two new canvas options, Fredrix Metallic Gold and Pearl Canvas, which offer a metallic finish to canvas wraps that were not available to the wide-format market previously. We sampled HP Recycled Satin Canvas, made of 100% recycled water bottles. We’re excited to see how this new, award-winning option will impact our industry.

yoga girlThroughout the show floor, we were mesmerized by some of the emerging trends, most of which played around with dynamic color and customization. SuperColor Digital featured printable blackout fabrics that were enhanced with lighting features that actually changed the colors of the graphics (see photo).

We noticed that many of the exhibits focused on brick-and-mortar retail’s current challenge: competing with ecommerce by using dynamic, sometimes over-the-top displays to create a memorable in-store experience.

“When looking at the booth designs, nearly every one of them had some sort of electrical element in the displays themselves,” says S-One Marketing Director Terry Lynn Belzer. “Whether they were blow-up fixtures, floor fixtures or even animal displays with eyes that lit up. There was also a lot of focus on tactile experiences throughout the show.”

IMG-4634There was even an “Instagrammable” moment with a Game of Thrones-inspired display with a giant throne and sword that was a photo opp just waiting to happen.

Our products like ChromaLuxe Photo Panels, Vescom Gold and Silver Mylar wallcoverings and Signetics Duo magnetic-receptive media offer a variety of ways to incorporate print into dynamic retail displays.

Colorful, hyper-customized walls, windows, floors and even ceilings showcased the power of print throughout the exhibits at GlobalShop @ RetailX. To get a closer look at the materials that S-One showcased, please visit our RetailX page for product info or give one of our retail specialists a call at 800-453-9538.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $175 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer. S-One Launches 2019 Culture Book with Print Innovations https://www.sone.com/s-one-launches-2019-culture-book-with-print-innovations/ Wed, 27 Feb 2019 17:43:42 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10924 SARASOTA, FLA. The book is a celebration of the teams that make up S-One and its subsidiary companies, as well as its customers, partners and communities.

S-One culture book coversThe theme of the book is the S-One vision: Develop. Connect. Innovate., which are illustrated throughout the 48-page publication. Articles include team passions, strengths- and learning-based initiatives, community involvement projects and a look back at the past 25 years and the innovations S-One has brought to market and forever changed the print industry through its companies: LexJet, Brand Management Group, ABAQA, Utopia Digital Technologies and S-One Labels & Packaging.

“As you read this new edition, you’ll see example after example of just how our culture and core values impact our people and their families, our customers and our commitment to innovations,” says Art Lambert, S-One co-founder, President & CEO. “This book illustrates what makes S-One ‘different’ and how our passion for and commitment to our teammates, partners and customers has driven us for the past 25 Years to be the best!”

Pages of Print Innovations

As pioneers of innovative print technology, we tapped some industry pros to bring cutting-edge elements to this publication. On the cover, we use HP SmartStream Mosaic software to create individually unique covers that were digitally printed on HP Indigo. We also asked our printer, Bennett Graphics, to add Scodix digital embellishment on our “S” logo. The results are eye-catching, to say the least.

AR teaseWe also harnessed the power of augmented reality, creating a new smartphone app, S-OneAR, available on iOS and Android, to bring videos to life right on the pages of the book. See the first page of a print copy for download instructions so you can delve deeper into our stories.

S-One Goes Around the World for All Faiths Food Bank https://www.sone.com/s-one-goes-around-the-world-for-all-faiths-food-bank/ Tue, 04 Dec 2018 17:43:22 +0000 https://www.sone.com/?p=10898 SARASOTA, FLA. (Dec. 4, 2018) — The tradition started in 2011, with small LexJet teams working to come up with interesting themes for their “canstruction” projects, created from food items to be donated to All Faiths Food Bank: Best Vegetarian Contribution or Best Carbohydrate Donation. That first year, LexJet, now a division of S-One Holdings Corporation, donated almost 1,200 pounds of food to All Faiths.

Over the years, competitive S-One canstruction builds included printers, Wrigley Field, a Thanksgiving Day parade, and even working replicas of video games, skee ball and board games. Last year the theme was movies, and the “Wizard of Oz” and “Toy Story” canstructions generated nearly 2,200 pounds of food — for the first time, the 1 ton mark had been reached.

Let’s Take a Trip

This year, S-One’s global offices created an “Around the World” experience for All Faiths. Starting on the fifth floor of S-One’s corporate offices on Main Street, the “journey” starts over the Skyway Bridge, complete with a toll booth, cargo ship and a shark in the water. The trip continues through our stairwell, which represents the airport, along with a board of arrivals and departures.

Next, you see the S-One Barcelona team in their airplane seats aboard “S-One Airlines.” Finally, the trip ends in London where visitors rendezvous with the Meghan and Harry and the Queen at Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

When the trip was over, Art Lambert presented the team from All Faiths a check for $1,000 and more than 1.26 tons of food had been collected.

“Your gift of $1,000 along with 2,522 pounds of food will be used to provide fresh produce, meats and groceries to children, families and seniors in our community who, without your help, might otherwise go hungry,” wrote Denise Cotler, Chief Development officer at All Faiths Food Bank. “Thanks to individuals like you, in 2017, we served 66,000 people 8.5 million meals.”

Speakers Lining Up for FPK Resources’ Flexible Packaging Symposium https://www.sone.com/speakers-lining-up-for-fpk-resources-flexible-packaging-symposium/ Tue, 10 Oct 2017 16:03:54 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10738 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Gearing up for the 3-day event: A Map for Printers to Manufacture Flexible Packaging, several industry leaders have been tapped to speak on a variety of topics from materials and processes to branding and supply chain.

The symposium, scheduled for Dec. 4-6 in Atlanta, will include comprehensive information for print providers who want to break into flexible packaging printing. Industry experts who are scheduled to speak include Daniel Lohman, President of Category Management Solutions, Chris Nothnagle, Senior Director – Converting Development, Toray Plastics, Ralph Giammarco, Vice President of S-One Labels & Packaging and more.

“We have lined up a powerful group of speakers from category management, retail, brand management, materials, contract manufacturing and packaging, and distribution,” says FPK Resources’ Kelly Williams. “We wanted to bring the right people into this event that can tell their stories about how their parts of the market have changed over the years and explain what they see as the needs and opportunities today and in the future.”

S-One is currently offering a $100 discount for the course. Go to FPK Resources to register and use coupon code S1SAVE at checkout.

This 3-day event is geared for printers who:

  • Have a strategic interest in expanding into flexible packaging
  • Want to understand the investment, equipment, process and products needed to expand into this high-value market
  • Want to capitalize on the customized, personalized opportunities that short-run digital printing provides
  • Are ready to get started now with a checklist of action items and a plan for success

As many label printers have experienced, customers are looking for faster, more customized turn-around for flexible packaging printing – a request that large, industrial printers and converters cannot service. With digital or conventional print equipment, label printers are primed to step in and win this business, especially in light of the new technology and products that make it easier than ever. A Map for Printers to Manufacture Flexible Packaging is ideal for this segment, with topics covered like:

  • How consumers are fueling the demand for flexible packaging
  • Products and technology: films, adhesives, laminations, converting processes and more
  • The competitive advantages of being an agile, local flexible packaging manufacturer
  • How to leverage the materials and supply chain to take orders, customize and deliver packaging in days, not weeks or months
  • The truth behind GMP and what it takes to comply with FDA regulations, and how compostable packaging will change the game

By the end of this symposium, label printers will have what it takes to write their business plan for a flexible packaging product line.

“During this event, we will teach the attendees how flexible packaging will be produced in the future that is far simpler than the way it is done today,” says FPK Resources’ Ginger Cushing. “This will not be a bunch of broad ideas being tossed around for attendees to ponder. The program reveals specific steps to follow to make short or long runs of customized flexible packaging on digital or conventional presses – efficiently and quickly, in the time frame the market is already demanding.”

When: 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6

Where: Georgia Power Customer Resource Center, 4404 North Shallowford Road, Building B, Atlanta, GA 30338

Food Drive Fun: S-One’s Game-winning Can-struction Competition https://www.sone.com/food-drive-fun-s-ones-game-winning-can-struction-competition/ Wed, 30 Nov 2016 17:35:19 +0000 http://www.sone.com/?p=10482 SARASOTA, FLA. — For the past four years, employees at S-One Holdings Corporation combine their competitive spirit with a charitable goal of collecting food for All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota. This year, the teams built their games-themed “can-struction” projects primarily using foods considered the most-needed items for All Faiths, such as rice, pasta, and canned meats and vegetables.

Eight teams throughout S-One’s headquarters, located on Main Street in downtown Sarasota, created imaginative structures that ranged from a mini Wrigley Field and Mario Bros. re-enactments to life-sized Operation and Jenga games, with whimsical S-One themes and interactive play.

The teams competed for an extra day of vacation and a catered lunch. The judges for the day included guests from All Faiths, Beau Wilberding, senior director of marketing, and Elaina Mand, community engagement manager, as well as members of the S-One leadership team.

“Every year, our teams have a lot fun creating these structures and competing with each other,” says Jason Metnick of S-One’s leadership team. “But ultimately, we’re all members of this community, which has supported us through the years, and this is an opportunity for us to give back.”

Two teams went on to win the competition: The Operation game featuring S-One founders Art Lambert and Ron Simkins and one of the Mario Bros. displays. “It involved not only lots of canned food, but also choreography and various characters from Mario Bros. … it was amazing,” Wilberding told ABC-7, which was on hand during the event. (See the news coverage at 19:40 on ABC-7’s site.)

The event raised a total of 1,883 pounds of food, bringing the total S-One donations for the last three years to more than 6,600 pounds. According to its 2015 annual report, All Faiths Food Bank serves 63,000 people per year, distributing 6.5 million meals in Sarasota and DeSoto counties.

Check out the video above and the gallery below to see the creative structures the teams built:
